All change at furniture firm Carlick after buy-in deal

A family owned furniture manufacturer has changed hands after a management buy-in deal. Lee Shuck and Damian O’Donnell have bought S Carlick and Sons which is based in Heywood and employs 48 staff. The company was established in 1962 and is a major supplier to the contract leisure industry.

The duo, who have each spent 15 years in the furniture industry, have paid an undisclosed sum for the business, which operates from a factory close to the M62 at Park Works, River Street. As a result of the deal the Carlick family has left the business and retired.

Carlick manufactures wooden tables & units for the office furniture and contract markets and produces a range of other commercial products, including boardroom tables. Lee and Damian plan to boost sales and improve the efficiency of the firm’s manufacturing and purchasing operations. Today, Lee said “Carlick is a strong business with good products and an excellent reputation. Damian and I are confident that by using our experience we can bring new ideas and perspective to Carlick to help the business grow and develop new markets.”

Carlick is one of the longest established UK companies in the contract furniture industry with over 40 years experience. Over this time, Carlick has established a reputation for manufacturing reliable, high quality and competitively priced products.

We work hand in hand with our clients to manufacture and deliver stylish contract furniture for any interior. We supply standard and customized pieces to hotels, bars, restaurants, offices and health-care clients, among others.

Carlick is a wholly British manufacturing and purchasing company, operating from a 50,000 sq feet “state of the art” factory. All furniture items are produced using panel products from certified FSC sources. The raw timber used is also sourced from FSC certified suppliers only where specified. Even our waste wood and chippings are recycled for use in other manufactured products.

Carlick Pollution prevention

In keeping with good environmental practice we have a PG6/33 authorised wood-coating process and we take great pains to ensure that we fulfill our obligations in the management of waste and recycled products. We are fully aware of the environmental impact of the VOCs contained in finishing products (such as stains and lacquers) and we operate a solvent recycling programme.

Through training and team discussion, we actively encourage our employees to recognize their responsibility for protecting the environment. We welcome and encourage suggestions for improved performance from everyone.
